Drive your BMW i3 the full length of NZ. Drink much coffee on the way.
BMW New Zealand has joined up with local company Charge.Net.NZ to deliver a charging station network that will allow BMW i -car drivers to juice up their vehicles all over the country. Some charging stations are already open and others are on the way but eventually you’ll be able to drive your i3 the entire length of NZ. Of course, with an 80% charge taking 30-minutes to complete you’ll be sucking down plenty of coffee and pies as you patiently wait for your top-ups throughout your journey.
The ChargeNow account card is available free to all current BMW owners and they’ll also enjoy a 10% discount on charging costs for the first 24-months.
The latest i3 sold in NZ has a 94Ah spec delivering what BMW says is up to 200 kilometres of range in real-world conditions. With a distance of 2,074km to drive between Cape Reinga and Bluff my reckoning is you can do the trip on 6 lattes, 5 flat whites and 11 mince-and-cheese pies. Even adding on the cost of your electricity that’s cheap motoring!
